Yarra Valley Rail Trail

The Yarra Valley Rail Trail, first proposed some 30 years ago, is a shared use path from Lilydale that follows the alignment of the former Lilydale - Yarra Glen railway line, continuing east to Healesville and south to Woori Yallock, rejoining the popular Lilydale - Warburton Rail Trail.

Costed at over $10 million, it would form a link enabling cyclists, walkers, horse riders, and more to explore the Yarra Valley, bringing some 210,000 annual visitors and $30 million annual benefit to the region.

Yarra Ranges Shire Council recently held a community consultation session at the Yarra Glen Town Hall, where the Master Plan and proposed route outline was on display.

The packed-out room was attended by a variety of people, including adjacent land owners, nearby residents, horse riders, cyclists, bushwalkers, teachers, and more.

Maroondah BUG looks forward to participating in future consultation sessions as this trail moves toward construction.
